The NCWHS Research and Interpretation Committee (RIC) is a a dynamic group of research minded individuals. The group holds monthly meetings covering ongoing women’s history topics, developing and implementing projects linking women’s history to historic sites, and making research accessible.

RIC members develop sessions for professional conferences:

  • Organization of American Historians
  • American Association for State and Local History
  • National Trust for Historic Preservation
  • Berkshire Conference

RIC hosts presentations to committee members that are later uploaded to the NCWHS YouTube channel.

  • March 2025: Cassie Good, Women’s History at Washington-Custis Sites
  • April 2025: Sukyoung Hong, Endless Makeover: How Racialized Beauty Standards Have Pressured Asian American Women
  • May 2025: Sarah Peskin, The Frances Perkins National Monument
  • June 2025: Theresa Coble, Recognizing and Honoring Women’s History in Federal Lands, Parks, and Programs

RIC periodically takes on other projects that engage issues of women, girls, gender, and sexuality in public history sites. RIC includes site-based members and experts in many fields. Its meetings combine project discussions with presentations from members that provide insights into a range of topics and issues.
