By February 22, 2021 No Comments

A brief ceremony to celebrate the installation of the Pomeroy marker at the Patagonia Museum in Patagonia, AZ, was to take place along with their annual meeting on Saturday, January 23, 2021. However, this has been postponed due to an increase in COVID-19 case in the area. They plan to reschedule as soon as possible. Mary Melcher, who received her Ph.D from Arizona State University in American History, will be their guest speaker. Mary is an oral historian, consultant, curator, historian, author and the driving force who made this recognition possible.

The Patagonia Museum is housed in the 1914 Patagonia Grammar School, where in 1915, Mexican American women Mary Kane and Amalia Valenzuela were among those women who voted. For more information, go to http://www.thepatagoniamuseum.org/in-the-news/making-herstory-in-arizona/
